About
"SHREK! THE MUSICAL"

Based on the Oscar-winning animated film, Shrek! is a Tony Award-winning musical about an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey. While on his quest Shrek encounters a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess, as well as a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with attitude and over a dozen other famous fairy tale characters.

Eric Petersen

Eric Petersen is a versatile American actor based in Los Angeles. A seasoned musical-theatre performer, he starred as Shrek both on Broadway and in the first U.S. national tour of Shrek the Musical. His Broadway credits also include School of Rock and Escape to Margaritaville. On screen, Petersen has appeared in popular shows such as Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, Chicago Fire, NCIS, CSI, Jessie, Law & Order, and TV Land’s Kirstie alongside Kirstie Alley. He also starred in an acclaimed AMC comedy series opposite Emmy Award–winner Annie Murphy.

WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES &
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

This January, Eric will join the cast and creative team of CWETA’s SHREK! as a Resident Artist.

As part of this residency, teachers & students who are attending a matinee performance of “SHREK! THE MUSICAL” can take advantage of a unique opportunity to bring Eric into your classroom for an educational workshop at no additional charge.

We also provide curriculum materials for teachers which include classroom activities for grades K through High School.

CWETA'S SPECIAL
EDUCATION
THEATER INITIATIVE

In addition to our school matinee performances, CWETA will also be producing a special modified performance of “SHREK!” for students with special needs, their teachers, & their families.

The audience for this 1-hour performance can include children with autism, cognitive delays, speech & language impairments, & physical impairments. The show will be presented in a friendly environment for students who can’t typically attend a live performance. Adjustments will be made to the length of the show, the volume of the music and the lighting, as well as other aspects of the production. This performance will be offered free of charge to students, teachers and family members on Tuesday February 10th at 1:00 PM at the Wausau West High School Theater.

The Venue has a large seating capacity which will allow us to accommodate a wide variety of special seating needs. Input from Special Education Teachers and Coordinators will be requested to help modify the performance to meet the needs of the students attending. Reservations are required.
